New Group Opening, This Blog Closing

In 2008 I began the Izannah Walker Chronicles with the idea that it would be a kind of clearinghouse for all things Izannah. It works quite well for posting information, but doesn't allow for discussion about Izannah Walker dolls. I started the Izannah's Daughters to be a place for dollmakers and students of Izannah to connect, but it doesn't work very well without a discussion forum. So I am closing the Izannah's Daughters blog and opening up a social network at ning.com for dollmakers , pattern designers, collectors and students of Izannah Walker Dolls. It's open to anyone who has an interest in Izannah Walker. All you have to do is set up an account at ning.com and join. Click the banner above to go to the site.

This blog will be closing in one week.

Lone Pierette's Izannah Dress

What a great job Lone Pierette did on this dress, inspired by an antique photo. She hand embroidered all the decorative stitching you see! Wonderful job on both the oil painted doll and the dress!

Gail Wilson's Newest Izannah Walker Inspired Pattern

Gail Wilson Newest Izannah Inspired Pattern

Click pictures to be taken to Gail's site,
then scroll down till you find the Izannah pattern.

I love it when an artist makes a creation inspired by a master artist that honors the original creation and yet is completely recognizable as their work. These show a search to understand the essence of the inspiration piece. That's why I like this new Izannah inspired pattern by Gail Wilson - you see the Izannah influence, but there is no doubt it's Gail Wilson's design.

I asked Gail if I could use the pictures from her website to feature this pattern. She said yes and also offered the following -

Anyone who orders
Gail Wilson's newer Izannah pattern or kit
and mentions that they saw it here
on the Izannah's Daughters
will get a 10% discount
on the
newest Izannah pattern or kit until May 31st.
Click the pictures to go to Gail's website.

Izannah Walker Reproduction Dolls ?

Izannah Walker Inspired Paper Doll
by Megan Womack

There are some interesting things on Ebay this week when you search for Izannah Walker doll. One is an antique doll being listed as a pre-patent Izannah and then there are various reproduction creations. Megan Womack always does something interesting that is inspired by Izannah - see her paper doll above. It comes with a whole wardrobe, and imagine the fun you could have with that. To see the other items listed, click the link below.

My Izannah Inspired Collection

I thought I would share a picture of the Izannah inspired dolls that I have purchased over time. And speak more plainly about the standing doll by Plain-n-Simple doll by Jackie Hendricks. Pun intended. :-) I am one lucky girl to have purchased this doll. When I opened it up I said, "Wow. Wow. Wow." in an awestruck way. I have seen eight or nine original Izannah Walker dolls and somehow Jackie has caught something very close to the original dolls with this head.

The proportion of the head to the
body is just right. Izannah's dolls seem
to have heads that are too large for the bodies.

Secondly, she has caught
the pensive timeless feel
that characterize the original
Izannah dolls.

The tilt of the head is perfect.

I enjoy all these Izannah expressions,
and hope in the future to be able to purchase more. I
have a list of artists that I don't own one of their dolls and
I hope to. But my Christmas money for dolls and art is all gone now.
